Chamomile Essential Oils

Chamomile is one of my favorite essential oils.  It is very helpful to have on hand for a variety of physical and emotional conditions.  There are two types of chamomile, each having specific conditions that they can be helpful with.


Roman Chamomile 

  • Topical applications:  acne, dermatitis, eczema, inflammation of the skin and teething.  

  • For skin conditions mix 1-2 drops with 1-2 tbsp of a carrier oil (such as coconut, grapeseed or olive oil), test on non-affected skin first before applying to affected to skin to check for possible skin irritation.

  • For teething mix 1-2 drops with 1-2 tbsp of a carrier oil, apply to jaw line and bottoms of feet. 

  • Aroma Therapeutic applications: relieves restlessness, anxiety, insomnia, depression, irritability, difficultly with concentration/focus.  

  • Essential oil diffuser: can mix with bergamot, lavender, lemon verbena to aid in relaxation

German Chamomile

  • Topical applications: acne, dermatitis, scar tissue, arthritis

  • For skin conditions mix 1-2 drops with 1-2 tbsp of a carrier oil (such as coconut, grapeseed or olive oil), test on non-affected skin first before applying to affected to skin to check for possible skin irritation.

  • Aroma Therapeutic applications: helps dispel anger, stabilizes emotions, soothes and clears the mind

  • Essential oil diffuser: can mix with angelica, bergamot, Idaho blue spruce, lavender, melissa, or tangerine.
