Eucalyptus Essential Oils

Eucalyptus is one of my favorite essential oils to have on hand during allergy and cold and flu season.  There are several species of eucalpytus, each having specific conditions that they can be helpful with.

Eucalyptus Radiata and Eucalyptus Globulus

  • Topical applications: respiratory and sinus infections, colds, coughs/expectorant, fever(radiata), sore muscles(globulus)

Mix 1-2 drops with 1-2 tbsp of a carrier oil (such as coconut, cocoa butter, grapeseed or olive oil), test on a small patch of skin to check for possible skin irritation, before using as a chest rub, may also apply to bottoms of feet or sore muscles.

Add 2-3 drops in bath water.

  • Aroma Therapeutic applications: cough, congestion, mental clarity.

  • Essential oil diffuser: can mix with cypress, Idaho blue spruce, lavender, myrtle, oregano, peppermint, ravintsara. Place 1-2 drops on a tissue and slip in between sheet and mattress or pillow and pillow case.
